UP CM Yogi Adityanath to offer 500 government jobs for sportspersons

In a bid to encourage and support the sportspersons of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that his government will soon offer 500 government jobs under the sports quota in various departments, including the police. The CM made this announcement on Wednesday at the inauguration of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav in Basti, a sporting event that provides opportunities to the youth to showcase their talent and skills.

Sports quota with 2% reservation

The CM said that the government has already given jobs to 500 athletes till now, who have won medals at the international level. These include posts of deputy SP and naib tehsildar. He added that 500 new posts are being created under the sports quota with a 2% reservation, ensuring lifelong support and sustenance for the sportspersons. “Players who win medals internationally will not only get government jobs but will also be provided with lifelong support for their sustenance,” the CM said¹.

Sports infrastructure development

The CM also highlighted the government’s initiative to develop the sports infrastructure in the state, with plans to establish a sports centre in each district, provide sports facilities at the village level, and construct stadiums at district and block levels. He said that the government has distributed 65,000 sports-kits to Yuva Mangal Dal and Mahila Mangal Dal, the teams of youth entrusted with the job of promoting sporting facilities at the gram panchayat level¹.

 

New India and UP’s role

The CM emphasized the emergence of ‘New India’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the need for the citizens to be associated in establishing India as the third biggest economy in the world. He said that the country has graduated from the world’s 11th economy to 5th economy, and has gained respect on the global stage over the last nine years. He also praised the sportspersons of UP for bringing laurels to the state and the nation in various events, and urged them to continue their efforts with dedication and hard work².
