2 terrorists killed in J&K encounter

J&K encounter ,Two terrorists found themselves trapped during a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. These individuals had earlier fled from the security cordon in Kulgam district on Thursday. The encounter took place in the Chotigam area, with Shopian Police, Indian Army, and CRPF personnel actively engaged in the operation, as shared in a tweet by the Kashmir Zone Police.

This incident occurred shortly after a previous gunfight in Hadigam village, Kulgam district, two days ago, following a cordon and search operation by law enforcement. Although there’s no fresh firefight in Kulgam, ongoing search operations are underway to locate the terrorists, according to a police official reported by PTI.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) associated with J&K encounter

As per available information, two terrorists are currently trapped, and security forces have initiated a search operation in the region. During the encounter, security personnel successfully neutralized a terrorist associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and trapped two others. The identified slain terrorist, Naseer Ahmad Bhat, was involved in multiple terror crimes and had recently escaped from an encounter.

Recovered items include incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition, including an AK rifle. The encounters were a result of specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in these areas and mark the third such incident in the valley ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Kashmir visit.

In another development on the same day, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, reported that terrorists attempting to disrupt an ongoing Army Rally in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district were killed in an encounter. Notably, both encounters in Shopian and Baramulla involved terrorists linked to the proscribed terror outfit JeM, as stated by ADGP Kashmir police.
